I can tell that I have grown a lot as a writer in the past six weeks. I have learned that I am very weak at writing conclusions, so I need to focus on improving that. I have also come to realize that I need to work on the organization of my papers, as well as trying to stay focused on the main topic and not straying off from it.

Although I have not kept my blog webpage up to date, I have been writing them down in my notebook. They have actually helped in writing my papers though. They are not only questions we need to answer, but rather ideas and areas we should include or focus on throughout our papers.

I am interested in discovering an artist that is out of my “type.” I expect on doing this by asking my friends for some ideas. For example, I have a friend that is in a band and I wanted to use his band, but they are too new and I don’t think I can find enough info on them. He has a lot of experience with music though, so I’m sure he knows of a few bands I don’t know about that I might be interested in.

In order for me to complete my paper, I must still add my opinion after certain quotes to state why I chose that quote in that place in the essay. I know this because a I read my essay, I notice that I explain why critics say what they say , but I don’t write why I chose that quote. The failure of my paper is that people don’t really care how erll of a performer or an artist she is, they just make their opinion on her based on her actions and my paper does not focus on her actions. The success of my paper is that I focus on her abilities as an artist and put all other opinions on her aside.

In this essay, I plan on using sources that not only agree with my opinion, but using those that oppose my opinion too. We need to use dialectic thinking so I have to expose my reader to both sides of the review. I expect to find both types of sources everywhere. It is easy to find people who love Britney Spears and people that despise her.

I see myself using meta-commentary, evaluation, and finding an audience in paper 3. Meta-commentary will help me identify songs as appealing or not to listeners of a specific audience. Finding an audience will help me direct my writing to certain people instead of the general. Rhetorical analysis and evaluation both have a place in exploratory writing. Rhetorical analysis identifies how songs, the album as a whole and the artist appeals to listeners: ethos, pathos, or logos. Evaluation, as stated above helps me focus on a specific audience so that way, I write towards them and their appeals.

I see the revision process as further developing the writer’s original ideas. Everything ever done by every writer has been revised in one way or another at some point. Revision in the writing process is extremely critical. I believe revision is very important but I think it’s neither the most important process nor the least important. The most important process is organizing your ideas in your writing. The next most important step in the process would be the revising process. Revising lets the writer fix everything, but you have to have something already done before you can revise. Revisions only improve your essays and writings, so there is no true limit on how much you can improve.
